SawStop is a new table saw that won't cut your fingers, or your hot dogs. Their system will stop the saw blade within 5 milliseconds of detecting contact with your skin. The blade carries an electrical signal which constantly monitors for the conductivity the human body carries. When skin contacts the blade, it throws the brakes on and sinks the blade below the table. This ruins the blade and braking system ($69 to replace), but is way cheaper than trying to reattach a precious finger. Check out this video shot for the show Time Warp.
