EMP Cannon Stops Cars
Tue, January 26, 2010 Eureka Aerospace is developing the High Powered Electro Magnetic System (HPEMS) which generates an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP). When shot at a car, the surge of current runs through the wiring, reaching and disabling the microprocessor. The company claims that they will be able to get this device reduced down to the size of a handgun. That's pretty impressive, since the prototype looks to be the size of a small car right now. The company hopes that in the future, police cruisers will be equipped with their product, which will greatly reduce the number of high speed chases. So, all you would be criminals planning your future bank heists and high speed getaways... just remember to drive a pre 1970's car, without microprocessors, and you should be fine.
