Ken Block Snow Trax STI

If you been with us here at TIFR for any period of time, you know that we're huge fans of Ken Block's work. Well, let's just say, this new creation of his doesn't disappoint us in the least bit. Ken teamed up with Subaru to make the world's fastest cat track vehicle.

The TRAX STI is an experimental automobile that starts with Block's competition-ready Subaru WRX STI before ditching the tires, adding snow cat tracks, and upgrading to some next-level suspension to create the ultimate backcountry shred car. Prepared by Vermont SportsCar, performance modifications include 400-hp and features Group N competition rally dampers made by EXE-TC and a KAPS 5-speed close-ratio dog-engagement gearbox. Under the hood sits a 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged and intercooled STI engine tuned with a MOTEC M800 ECU.

Completing the TRAX STI is a sleigh to be pulled behind the car, designed to hold four snowboarders, their snowboards, and all their gear. The sleigh's body is 100 percent custom designed and constructed of hand-laid fiberglass-though the sleigh. Altogether, this is one car ready for backcountry access and snowboarding.

We would definitely put one of these to good use.

Course de Pikes Peak

Coming across this video this morning is like teasing a tiger.  It really makes you want to hop in your car and hammer it down the windiest road you can find

The video is Climb Dance, a short film produced by Peugot and directed by Jean Louis Mourey.  The film is based around Finnish driver Ari Vatanen's record breaking run on Pikes Peak in 1988.

Enjoy!!

Rally Car Hits Horse Launches It 30 Feet

A wild horse was hit by a rally car and launched 30 feet in the air during the Argentine Rally in South America. The driver was able to dodge the others galloping stallions, but unfortunately the one he hit didn't survive.

This is an obvious attempt to exterminate all the wild horses from the globe.

Rally Driver Takes 300-ft Dive Off of a Cliff

More from our people made of rubber series:  Rally Driver Jari-Matti Latvala tries to see if his Ford Focus WRC can fly at the Rally de Portugal.  Luckily the forward pointing mounted camera allowed us to see the carnage from the driver's point of view.  I would certainly have to change my shorts after that, but Jari-Matti makes sure to give the interview a little later.

What a champ.
